Miami Florida Day Trip

This past weekend I had a blogger meet up in Miami so Travis and I packed up the kids and headed to the East coast of Florida. Miami is about 2 1/2 hours from us and we have to go through what they call "alligator alley" to get there.  Which is just the Everglades but it is a long stretch of highway with not one gas station or store for a while. We did get to see an alligator though, surprisingly we only spotted one but we also watched a snake trying to cross the road too!

The blogger meet up was really fun. I was able to connect with other bloggers and the speaker Amber from the blog Damask Love had a lot of really helpful tips. Cibo Wine Bar hosted the meet up. We were able to sip on champagne during the discussion and then when it was time to eat everyone was amazed. They had everything you could think of for brunch. We started at the donuts and pastry table but then you quickly made your way to antipasto with yummy olives and cheese and then the desserts I couldn't decide which one I wanted they all looked so good. I ended up picking the strawberry cheesecake which was a really good choice it was delicious. Then after the dessert counter there was a build your own pizza bar and they cooked it in a brick over, that is my favorite kind of pizza! I am not done yet though, after pizza you had your choice of meets and then a pasta and salad bar and what I wish I would have gotten was an omelet, they were made fresh right there in front of you. Cibo Wine Bar was incredible. If you are ever in Miami I would definitely check it out and it's just a short walk away from the beach.

After the blogger meet up I spent the rest of the day with Travis and the kids. We got some pictures for the blog and Instagram and then changed for the beach. Unfortunately the beach was covered in seaweed, not just a little bit either. We had to walk through thick patches of it to get to the beach and there was even a ton once we got in the water.  We just stepped through it and swam out to the sandbar and then it was fine. The kids had so much fun they aren't used to the waves so they were jumping in and swimming through them. Living on the West coast of Florida the only waves we get is when the weather is getting bad or a boat has just gone by. I loved the clear blue water, it was so pretty and the sound of the waves are so relaxing. I still have plenty of other places in Miami I want to check out but it was a pretty good day trip for sure.

I want to check out the art district next time I make it to Miami. Let me know some of your favorite places.
